Couvillon making most of extended season

When Kale Couvillon scored a goal during the Windsor Clippers' season finale he did it as a member of the Elora Mohawks. He was traded the week prior and Kale's visit to Forest Glade Arena was his first game with his new team.

"It was a great game and they made me feel very welcomed so that was nice," said the 20-year old of his new mates. "It sucks leaving Windsor since I’ve been there pretty much my whole jr. career but it’s my last year and hopefully we can win a championship."

Kale knows what it's like to win a provincial title. He helped the Leamington Flyers capture the Sutherland Cup championship in 2023 before deciding to play junior C last season. He joined the Essex 73's who fell short against the eventual Schmalz Cup champion Lakeshore Canadiens in game seven of the Stobbs Division final.

Essex head coach Tony Piroski raved about his team following the ouster and decided to return for one more season, which was music to Couvillon's ears.

"I am going back to Essex hopefully we can get it done this coming year," Kale said. "I am excited Tony came back. He’s a very passionate coach and wants the best for his players so that was very exciting that he decided to come back and like I said hopefully we can get it done this year."

For now, Couvillon is focused on helping his new team win. Elora swept their first round series against Guelph. The Mohawks open the second round Friday night at home against Cambridge.
