Hockey Canada announced today that the national women’s team will square off against Team USA right here in Windsor on October 28th, and it’s not just any exhibition game. This is a pre-tournament tune-up ahead of the 2026 IIHF Women’s World Championship.

Former Windsor Spitfires forward Matthew Maggio has signed with the KHL's Salavat Yulaev. The 23-year old was selected in the fifth round of the 2022 NHL Draft by the New York Islanders and played three-plus seasons with the Bridgeport Islanders of the American Hockey League.

Fifth-year lineman Melyk George is back after missing the 2025 season with a meniscus injury, and by all accounts, he's picked up right where he left off. The Scarborough native and Northern Secondary School product broke out in 2024, appearing in seven games and earning OUA second-team all-star honours after racking up 16.5 tackles.

The 98th Essex Kent Golf Tournament crowned three winners. Baylor Martinello of Pointe West won the senior division seven up with five holes to go. Alexander Brown won two up with one to go in the Novice Division while Brayden DeBruyn took the Tyke Division winning four up with two to go. Tecumseh golfer Erica Rivard is a world champion. Rivard won gold in the individual women's division at the 15th World Deaf Golf Championships, held August 11-14 at Barseback Golf & Country Club in Sweden. The field included 126 golfers from 20 countries, with Canada fielding 15 athletes. Rivard closed 75-74-74-77 for 300 (+8), holding off Germany's Vanessa Girke by a single stroke (301, +9).
