A Family Day crowd of over 6,100 was treated to an offensive showcase as the Windsor Spitfires skated away with a 7-1 win over the Saginaw Spirit to keep pace in a tight Western Conference race.
With conference-leading Kitchener Rangers falling to the Peterborough Petes in a shootout, the Spits gained a point in the race to finish first. They also remain tied atop the West division with the Flint Firebirds, who blanked the Oshawa Generals 5-0. Both Windsor and Flint sit at 79 points.

Greentree Leads the Way
Liam Greentree earned First Star honours with two goals and an assist. Defenceman Carson Woodall chipped in with a goal and an assist, while goaltender Joey Costanzo was steady between the pipes, turning aside 19 of 20 shots to secure his 27th win of the season.
Brody Pepoy scored his 13th of the year to spoil Costanzo's shutout bid with 43 seconds left in the game.
Windsor also got goals from Andrew Robinson, Cole Davis, John McLaughlin and Jack Nesbitt.
The Spitfires now have a few days to rest and prepare for Friday's match up in Kitchener. Windsor was blown out 7-2 the last time they visited the Rangers on January 30th.
