Lajeunesse wins battle of undefeated's

Sierra Gosselin had the game of the season in the biggest game of the season as Lajeunesse beat Assumption 5-2 to win the WECSSAA A/AA city division. "There was definitely a lot of excitement and pressure but we were able to pull it off." said Gosselin who scored four goals to help Le Royal finish 6-0. Manuela Vettraino scored also scored for Lajeunesse.
Maddy Rousseau and Marissa Mourad tallied for the Purple Raiders who finished with their best regular season in over a decade at 5-1. "They had a lot of energy going in and we tried to match that," Rousseau said. "We tried our best. Unfortunately didn't come out on top but we're always up for a challenge and this is really good leading into playoffs."
Riverside lost their second straight game, 2-1 to Herman, Monday afternoon to finish 3rd with a 4-2 record.
Lajeunesse is the lone A school playing sr. girls soccer this spring and are the acclaimed A champions. While other teams get set for playoffs The Royal will try to keep sharp until the SWOSSA championships May 28th. Head coach Kim Adams has set up an exhibition game against Holy Names and hopes to play L'Essor as well. "We're gonna try to keep some game time situations against some bigger schools in the region and hopefully be ready for SWOSSA." Adams said.
