St. Anne Saints guard Addison Ficon officially signed with the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees women's basketball program, with head coach Rose-Anne Joly flying in from Ottawa to be part of the moment.

Ficon, a first-team WECSSAA All-Star, was a key piece of the St. Anne Saints' WECSSAA championship run and helped the squad reach the OFSAA quarterfinals.
"It means a lot to have all my coaches from high school and travel here," said Ficon. "For her to make the trip down just shows the support she has in me and the support from the community and my teammates has been great."
Joly said the trip was never a question. "It was really important for Addie and her family for me to be there. She wanted my presence at her signing."
The Ottawa bench boss was effusive about what the left-handed guard brings to the program. "She can shoot the ball, she can attack and she's not near the peak of where she's going to be. Her plateau is so far away."
The Gee-Gees won a national championship two years ago and are entering a rebuilding phase, welcoming several new student-athletes next season. Ficon sees that as an opportunity. "It's a fresh start and I'm excited to work for my spot."
Joly is thinking bigger picture. "Addison is going to do very well and she's going to definitely be part of our rotation next year." Joly told PowerplayWindsor.com. "We're going to be competitive this year but we're definitely going to be a contender for the championship in two years from now so I'm very excited about that."
