Prsa leading young Lancers

In his final season with the University of Windsor baseball team, Jacob Prsa's approach to the game comes with wisdom. "You're never guaranteed another day. Nothing's really promised for you so you gotta just make the most of every single day and put in the work whether it's in the gym, in the classroom, on the field."

The 5th-year centrefielder is a former OUA rookie of the year in 2019 and returns as captain of the team for a 4th straight year. Head coach Frank Jeney says the program is on solid ground because of the work Prsa put in to help get the Lancers back on track towards the back end of the pandemic. "Jacob had to lead through change and he had to manage through that." Jeney said. "We wouldn't be where we are today without a guy like that. A lot of the great players we've been able to attract is because of a Jacob Prsa."

The Prsa effect is also being felt away from the field. Originally intending to follow in his dad's footsteps in the pharmaceutical industry, the 22-year old pivoted and is hoping to be an educator like his mom. "Something that I've found a love to do and hopefully can really do it for a long time." said Prsa who is in his second year of Teacher's College. "Hopefully inspire some kids to be on the journey I was or something completely different, what ever they choose to study."

A former GLIAC Player of the Year and member of the Wayne State Hall of Fame, Jeney was a collegiate standout who now takes pride in seeing his players, including Prsa, succeed. "That's another great person that is going to be in our system with a lot of the great teachers we have in our area and that's going to help our society and our communities grow."

Prsa has a career .320 batting average and .443 on-base percentage. After 13 games this season he has a .256 avg and nine stolen bases.
