Massey runner Anieu Chan has committed to Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and will join the Demon Deacons in the fall of 2027.

It's the latest milestone for one of the area's top track athletes and member of the Windsor Legion Track and Field Club.

This past spring, Chan set records in both the 800m and 1,500m at the WECSSAA Championships. She then won the senior girls 800m at SWOSSA in 2:10.41, breaking a record that had stood since 2000.

She also won the SWOSSA 400m in 55.96 seconds, just shy of the meet record and was the top finisher in the 800m at the U20 Championships held at the University of Windsor in June.

Chan is gearing up for the WECSSAA cross country championships coming up at Malden Park on October 21st.

The high school senior will join a Wake Forest team that features Swiss runner Natalia Issler who ran the 800m in 2:02.28 outdoor and 2:05.38 indoor in her freshman season in 2026.
