Beale sets team record in lopsided win (updated)

Michael Beale is in the record book seven games into his tenure as quarterback of the St. Clair Fratmen. Beale hit Jared Hayes-Williams with a 9-yard highlight catch at 1:51 of the second quarter to give the Fratmen a 48-0 lead over the GTA Grizzlies Sunday afternoon at Acumen Stadium. "It's an awesome feeling especially being at home to be able to put my name right up there with some of the great athletes that have played for this organization over the many years", said Beale.

It was his 22nd passing touchdown of the season breaking the old mark held by Rick Lachance (1991) and Danny Mailloux (2019) who had 21. "The credit is also due to my offensive line for giving me the time to make these throws and our outstanding receiving core that has been making plays for me all season".

The Fratmen improved to 7-0 on the season in a 71-0 game that didn't offer much of an opportunity for St. Clair to stay sharp with the season winding down. "Our offence had five drives in the first half and most were cut short", said head coach Mike Lachance.

Beale gave GTA full marks for playing the game with a very thin bench, "the final score doesn't really show how hard they played throughout the game so I definitelly felt I was able to accomplish the goals we had set out as a team.

How a game like this helps remains to be seen with one game left in the regular season, "we tried to work on no huddle and quick passes but it's difficult to gauge anything worth while in a game like this" said Lachance who is looking forward to tougher test from Hamilton in their regular season finale Saturday night at home.

aboutus

Powerplay Windsor was born during a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass sparked a memory—being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan early in my career. That moment brought to mind the upcoming Windsor Lancers football camp and the many fall sports that would go uncovered due to cuts in legacy media sports coverage.

Recognizing this gap, and with the support of my loving wife and family, I launched Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

Founded locally and operated locally, we blend traditional sports reporting with modern digital storytelling.

From high school athletics and post secondary programs to junior hockey and grassroots clubs, we shine the spotlight on the people who make our sports community vibrant.

Our video channel brings you highlights, interviews and behind the scenes access. We are courtside, rinkside and on the field capturing moments that matter. See you soon.

"We celebrate all of the athletes within Windsor-Essex and their achievements reflected on Powerplay Sports."
