Catholic Central back on top

Comets Crowned WECSSAA Champions in Thrilling Victory

Thirteen proved to be a lucky number for Catholic Central as the Comets clinched their first WECSSAA senior boys soccer championship since 2012.

Catholic Central took early control of the match, building a 2-0 lead in the first half with goals from Zakaria Ali and Sabir Ibrahim Osman. However, Cardinal Carter stormed back in the second half, with Anthony Saba scoring the equalizer to send the match into extra periods.

In the first extra frame, Fradiel Luque Urena gave the Comets the edge with a crucial late goal. Sabir Ibrahim Osman secured the win on a rebound off a penalty kick, sealing the championship for Catholic Central.

The hard-fought victory marks a major milestone for the Comets, who advance to SWOSSA.

aboutus

Powerplay Windsor was born during a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass sparked a memory—being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan early in my career. That brought me to the upcoming season that was going to be overlooked due to cuts to legacy media.

I launched Powerplay Sports as a passion project and to continue showcasing local athletes and our vibrant sports community.

Our video channel brings you highlights, interviews and behind the scenes access. We are courtside, rinkside and on the field capturing moments that matter.

Bob Bellacicco: Founder

"Another great resource for local sports produced by a person that has been invested in local sports for decades."
