Clayton brings down 45-year old record

Mallory Clayton of St. Anne broke the novice women’s discus record with a throw of 35.90M.

The 14-year old toppled the mark set by Joanne Rothery in 1981 who had a throw of 35.64M. Rothery went on to break records at the University of Oklahoma and be inducted into the Windsor-Essex County Sports Hall of Fame.

“It was ok. I was hoping for a bit farther.” Said Clayton who broke the record twice during the event. “SWOSSA I’m hoping to get closer to 40m”
