Clippers open OFSAA Monday

The Kennedy Clippers sr. boys basketball team is back at OFSAA for the first time since 2021 when they won silver in the AAA division. "This is the first time since I can remember, and obviously I feel very spoiled saying this, that we have kids on our team who haven't been to OFSAA." said head coach Mike Harrington.
Under Pat Osborne the program won seven straight WECSSAA titles before shifting to prep in 2022. Harrington guided the Clippers to the AA final last year losing to Herman. With a young team this year, he has preached outworking the opponent. "Trying not to focus on those outcomes and focus on the things we can control like rebounding, playing defence, our effort levels, loose balls. As long as we can say we put in that effort, whatever happens at the end is going to happen." Harrington said.
He brings a young team to Ottawa ranked 15th heading into the 20-team AA tournament. The Clippers open against #5 seed Sudbury's Ashburn College Monday at noon in Ottawa. "Pat (Osborne) and I coached a 1-seed at Forster and we lost to the 16 so the seedings are whatever to me," Harrington said. "As long as we go there and play our game I think we'll be ok. We can't really worry about what other people are saying about us."
Highlights, many with grade 9 guard Sadiki Kromah, vs Sarnia's Great Lakes in the SWOSSA Championship game at the Clipperdome.
Other teams heading to OFSAA from the area including Holy Names. They're seeded #2 in the AAA division and open against #12 Eden Monday in Stoney Point.
Lajeunesse is in Welland for the A championships. The defending OFSAA champs have the target on their backs as #1 seed. They'll open against #19 Oakville Sainte-Trinity. Despite losing to Les Royals in the WECSSAA final Maranatha is also at the tournament by virtue of Lajeunesse winning gold last year.
North Star High School is seeded 4th in the sr. girls AA volleyball tournament and open against #17 St. Ignatius Monday morning at 10:30 in Sydenham, Ontario.
The Lajeunesse sr. girls volleyball team is northern Ontario playing in the A tournament in Blind River and Elliott Lake. Les Royals are seeded 13th and open against #7 Toronto's The York School.
