The Leamington District Secondary School runner set a new mark in the senior boys 100 metres, blazing across the finish line in 10.68 seconds. "The race felt good, but I can go faster," Milks told Powerplay Sports after the win.

His sights are set even higher — the Lions' sprinter hopes to run 10.4 seconds in the event before the season is over.

Milks will return to the track Thursday to compete in the 200 metres, where he's aiming to break another record. His season goal in that event? A blazing 20.9 seconds.

"I think my season is going well coming off of a hamstring injury," he said. "I definitely wish I started the season stronger, but it is what it is."

Steel-Douglas takes down another record

Ella Steel-Douglas of Sandwich beat out the Gravelle sisters, Madison and Kaitlyn, of St. Joe's in the sr. girls 100m hurdles setting a SWOSSA record of 13.52 seconds. The broke her previous record of 14.02 seconds in 2024.

Lily Odolphy of Sarnia Northern set a new record in the 100m senior final with a time of 12.10 seconds. Branson Lezinscar of Westview Freedom Academy ran the men's 100m intellectual race in 12.82 for a new record. Wakan Rainville or North Star set a new mark in the 100m junior final with a time of 13.92 seconds.

The SWOSSA championships continue through the week, with more top performances expected as athletes chase spots at OFSAA.

aboutus

Powerplay Windsor was born during a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass sparked a memory—being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan early in my career. That moment brought to mind the upcoming Windsor Lancers football camp and the many fall sports that would go uncovered due to cuts in legacy media sports coverage.

Recognizing this gap, and with the support of my loving wife and family, I launched Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

Founded locally and operated locally, we blend traditional sports reporting with modern digital storytelling.

From high school athletics and post secondary programs to junior hockey and grassroots clubs, we shine the spotlight on the people who make our sports community vibrant.

Our video channel brings you highlights, interviews and behind the scenes access. We are courtside, rinkside and on the field capturing moments that matter. See you soon.

"We celebrate all of the athletes within Windsor-Essex and their achievements reflected on Powerplay Sports."

John Fairley, St. Clair College

"Another great resource for local sports produced by a person that has been invested in local sports for decades."
