DiCarlo's Ace Powers Him to Top-5 Finish at Ontario Men's Amateur

Josh DiCarlo capped off the 104th Ontario Men's Amateur Championship with a spectacular final-round 67, highlighted by a hole-in-one on the fourth hole, to climb 10 spots on the leaderboard and finish tied for fifth at 2-under-par (286) at Otter Creek Golf Club.

The Pointe West Golf Club member opened the championship with rounds of 74 and 74 before gaining momentum with a third-round 71.

"I struggleda little bit on the greens in the first two rounds but stayed committed and finished strong." DiCarlo told Poweplay Sports.

He saved his best for the final day, carding a bogey-free 5-under 67 that featured an ace on the par-3 fourth hole along with birdies on Nos. 5, 12, 14 and 17.

DiCarlo's closing 67 was one of the lowest rounds of the championship and propelled him into a tie for fifth, just four shots behind champion Jager Pain. His final-round charge matched the biggest move among the tournament's top finishers, vaulting him 10 places up the leaderboard.

The hole-in-one provided the spark for a memorable finish, but it was DiCarlo's steady play throughout the remainder of the round that sealed one of the strongest performances of the championship. Finishing with rounds of 74-74-71-67, he demonstrated remarkable consistency and resilience to end the week among Ontario's top amateur golfers.

"The hole-in-one was special, 305 yard par-4 using a driver will always be something I remember." said DiCarlo who looks forward to the Canadian AM in Calgary later this month. "Can't wait to represent Windsor-Essex County."
