Dobinson earns provincial and national recognition

Jimmy El-Turk feels Sarah Dobinson is the best player in the OCAA, "I don't think we would have gotten two wins this weekend without her ability to carry the offence, especially against Niagara on Sunday," said El-Turk. "She really carried us through the third and fourth set".

Her performance last weekend earned the first year outside hitter OCAA and CCAA players of the week honours, "It was great. Super happy with my team. We all played really well this week. I could not have done that without them". El-Turk says this is the first time in his seven-year tenure one of his players has gained national player of the week honours.

Dobinson led the Saints to a pair of wins at home helping the team improve to 5-2. The Whitby, Ontario native had 13 kills, 3 aces and 5 digs against Redeemer Saturday and followed that up with 20 kills and 16 digs Sunday against Niagara.

Not knowing how the team would play after the recent shutdown Dobinson is really happy with the team's performance, "I think we've done a good job of persevering through that and being resilient holding on to our skill level and fitness levels as well", said the 24-year old. "You can see other teams getting tired whereas we've kinda been working hard to avoid that".

The 24-year old currently leads the OCAA with a 3.86 kills average and 4.5 points per set. St. Clair is 5-2 and tied for 2nd with Mohawk and Humber. The Hawks visit the Sportsplex for a 12:30 matinee this Friday.

El-Turk says the team rallies around their biggest offensive threat, "Our team has bought into the fact that she's got a big role for us and she's gonna play it and everybody supports her and I think everybody has celebrated this recognition for her appropriately".
