Gabriella Brun wins gold

What a season for a Windsor-Essex athlete who's just getting started. New to the sport in February, competing for Villanova Secondary, she captured WECSSA, SWOSSA, and OFSAA titles in her first few months.

At the Ontarios in mid-July, she finished 2nd overall, and a 3rd-place national ranking in the U16 age group punched her ticket to the Canadian Legion Youth Nationals in Regina, Saskatchewan (August 7-9). There, representing WEAC (Windsor Essex Athletic Association) against provincial champions from across the country, she captured another title with a personal best jump of 3.20m.

A huge shout out to her, to all the athletes who competed, and to coach Kevin DiNardo — who drove from Windsor to Regina with the poles she needed to compete. That's dedication.
