Hockey Canada bringing National Women's team to Windsor

Mark your calendars, Windsor hockey fans....this one’s big. Hockey Canada announced today that the national women’s team will square off against Team USA right here in Windsor on October 28th, and it’s not just any exhibition game. This is a pre-tournament tune-up ahead of the 2026 IIHF Women’s World Championship.

The puck drops at 7 p.m. at the WFCU Centre, and honestly, you couldn’t ask for a better preview of world-class women’s hockey in our backyard.

Canada and the U.S. are perennially the two best teams on the planet, and Windsor gets a front-row seat before either team heads overseas. This will be the first meeting between the two teams since Canada lost 2-1 in overtime to the Americans at the Olympics in Italy back in February.

A second pre-tournament game is set for the U.S., with details still to come. Both games will air on TSN and RDS.

As for the tournament itself, Canada opens the 2026 Women’s Worlds in Denmark on November 6th against Sweden, before also facing Japan, Denmark and Finland in the preliminary round. The whole thing runs November 6-16 in Herning and Esbjerg, Denmark.
