Jones-Hurtubise tie event #2 (updated)

Marcus Jones relied on his short game to finish with the top score during the second leg of the Jamieson Jr. Golf Tour. "It helped me throughout all the hard times at Willow (Ridge). It had my back no matter what I did". said the Ridgetown golfer.

Jones' putter helped him shoot a 2-under-70 and earn a tie with Tyler Hurtubise of Pointe West. "Tyler is a great friend and an outstanding golfer and I want to be up there with him to challenge him".

Hurtubise, who dropped five birdies, is two-time defending champ and moved up to second in the overall standings. "It's good to be back on top. Marcus was a good buddy of mine as a young junior. Big congrats goes out to him for throwing out a good number early in the tour". said the 18-year old, who sits a half point behind leader Jax Sisson. Sisson finished third at Willow Ridge with a 73. Jones is tied for 7th overall.

On the jr. girls side, Kyla Charlebois won her first event of the season with a 3-under-75. "I really felt confident heading into yesterday's round". The Pointe West golfer says she's been working a lot on her short game and was happy to see the work pay off.

Charlebois finished strong with two birdies and six pars on the back nine to edge out Maple City's Karolyn Rombouts by two shots. "I am very driven to be a back-to-back winner on the tour. I am working very hard on my game everyday and hoping to see that pay off in the upcoming events.
