Morneau cards another score in the 60's

Strong Scores, Tight Finishes at Unico Primo Junior Golf Tour in Blenheim


BLENHEIM, ON (July 13) – The Unico Primo Junior Golf Tour rolled into Willow Ridge Golf and Country Club this weekend, as junior and collegiate golfers delivered strong mid-season performances in sunny, breezy conditions.


Junior Girls Division: Tartaro, Rombouts Share Top Spot

Olivia Tartaro (Essex / Palm Beach Atlantic University commit) and Kassandra Rombouts (Maple City) each fired rounds of 77 to share top spot in the Junior Girls division Sunday.


Chloe Jacques (Country View), Mya Summers (Ridgetown), and Madelaine Beck (Beach Grove) were close behind, all finishing with a matching 82 in a tightly contested leaderboard.


Hannah Butzer, who won the tour opener at Seven Lakes is at the top of the overall leaderboard with 34.5 points. Savana Smith (33.5) and Chloe Jacques (33.0) round out the top-3.



Collegiate Women: Ardovini Takes Title

Vanessa Ardovini (Roseland / University of Windsor) earned top spot in the Collegiate Women’s division with a solid round of 82. She leads the group with 11 points after two events. Kennedy Fremlin is second with 6 points.


Junior Boys: Buchner Leads the Field


Ben Buchner (Sutton Creek / Simon Fraser University commit) finished with a round of 72 to win the junior boys division. Dayne Bensette, winner of the tour opener) followed up with a strong second outing with a 74.


Cash Kirakopoulos (Maple City), Chase Spidalieri (Belleview), and Peter Touralias (Essex) all carded rounds of 76 to round out the top-5.


Bensette has a comfortable lead at the top of the overall standings with 159 points. Kameron Kay is second at 147 while Marshall Touralias is third with 145.

Collegiate Men: Morneau Dominates Again

Christian Morneau (Kingsville / University of Memphis) continued his hot streak in the Collegiate Men’s division. He posted a standout round of 69—his second straight score in the 60s—cruising to a seven-shot win and his second tour victory of the season.


Morneau shot a 68 at Seven Lakes on July 7th and leads the overall standings with 40 points. Nathan White is a close second with 37.

Next Stop: Essex Golf & Country Club

The Unico Primo Junior Golf Tour resumes Wednesday, July 16 at Essex Golf and Country Club in LaSalle. Tee times begin at 7:30 a.m.

Powerplay Windsor was born during a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass sparked a memory—being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan early in my career. That moment brought to mind the upcoming Windsor Lancers football camp and the many fall sports that would go uncovered due to cuts in legacy media sports coverage.

Recognizing this gap, and with the support of my loving wife and family, I launched Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

Founded locally and operated locally, we blend traditional sports reporting with modern digital storytelling.

From high school athletics and post secondary programs to junior hockey and grassroots clubs, we shine the spotlight on the people who make our sports community vibrant.
