Overeem and Vincent-Simon honoured

The CCAA held their banquet earlier this week at Mount Allison University in Sackville New Brunswick to honour basketball student-athletes. Kaitlyn Overeem and Chad Vincent-Simon received recognition as All-Canadians following a stellar season at St. Clair.

Vincent-Simon was also in the running for men's basketball Player of the Year which was presented to Caleb Jipp of the Saint Mary's University Lightning. He set new career records at Saint Mary's in points, 3-pointers, free throws made and steals.

Vincent-Simon was named West Division Player of the Year and First Team All-Star and is the fifth St. Clair player to earn CCAA All-Canadian status. (Jimmy Parson 1997-98, Dave Korenic 2009-2010, David Gomez Jr. 2022 and Shak Pryce 2022-2023). He finished 14th overall on the St. Clair career scoring list with 1,333 points.

Overeem is the first player since Shannon Kennedy in 2015 to earn the All-Canadian nod. The Brantford, Ontario native led the league scoring 20.9 points per game while pulling down a team-leading 7.9 rebounds per game. She scored 334 regular season points this season placing her 4th on the all-time list at St. Clair and is only the 4th player to average 20 points per game in program history.

Andy Kiss was up for CCAA coach of the year which went to Chris King of Lakeland College who led the Rustlers to an undefeated 20-0 record in the ACAC.
