There will be a new but very familiar look behind the Sharks bench in the fall.

Kyle Quick is back with the organization, this time as Head Coach. He brings both experience and a clear purpose with him. There's no shortage of respect for the top teams in the league but Quick knows what he wants. “I’m just super excited to have this opportunity to work with these guys and get Wheatley back into contention and competing,” Quick told Powerplay Sports.

A former Sharks player, Quick knows what the team means to the community. Add to that his time with the Leamington Flyers, where he was part of a Sutherland Cup championship, and a solid Jr. B playing career in Leamington and LaSalle, and it’s easy to see why he fits.

He won’t be doing it alone. Tony Youssef is also back with the Sharks, stepping in as Associate Coach after previously playing for the organization. Since hanging up the skates, he’s built a strong coaching résumé locally, winning OMHA, OHF, and multiple International Silver Stick championships at the minor hockey level. A former Sharks captain, Youssef is known for his energy, his connection with players, and a mindset that’s all about winning.

"I have seven years invested in the team and feel there's some unfinished business. It's something we're looking forward to."

The bonus? These two already know each other well.

“It’s going to be fun,” Quick said. “We played against each other when i was like 16-17. We play hockey Sunday morning's together so we're familiar with each other. We're gonna have a lot of fun and put a good product on the ice for the fans of Wheatley.”

aboutus

Powerplay Windsor was born during a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass sparked a memory—being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan early in my career. That moment brought to mind the upcoming Windsor Lancers football camp and the many fall sports that would go uncovered due to cuts in legacy media sports coverage.

Recognizing this gap, and with the support of my loving wife and family, I launched Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

Founded locally and operated locally, we blend traditional sports reporting with modern digital storytelling.

From high school athletics and post secondary programs to junior hockey and grassroots clubs, we shine the spotlight on the people who make our sports community vibrant.

Our video channel brings you highlights, interviews and behind the scenes access. We are courtside, rinkside and on the field capturing moments that matter. See you soon.

"We celebrate all of the athletes within Windsor-Essex and their achievements reflected on Powerplay Sports."

"Another great resource for local sports produced by a person that has been invested in local sports for decades."
