Game 7 in Lakeshore

Updated: Mar 17

Are you ready for a good tilt? It's game 7 of the Stobbs Division semi-finals between the Lakeshore Canadiens and the Blenheim Blades.

"Meaningful hockey in March is what you sign up for," Lakeshore head coach Brent Walker told Powerplay Sports. "I would expect both teams will be fired up for it. Going to be a fun night, the tube will be rocking."

Why the series is going the distance

The series is going the distance because neither team has been able to hold momentum for long, even when it looked like they were starting to take control.

Both teams put together back-to-back wins at different points in the series. Lakeshore took games 2 and 3 while Blenheim answered by winning games 4 and 5 in convincing fashion.

Lakeshore staved off elimination Sunday in game 6 with a 3-1 win. "Happy with how our guys competed, collective effort from the drop of the puck. Was a fun atmosphere and the boys are excited for Tuesday's game." Walker said.

Blenheim’s offense exploded for five goals in three of their wins, while Lakeshore has countered with tighter defensive efforts, including a shutout. The constant swings and short-lived streaks have defined a series where neither side will go away.

Who will Essex face in the division final

Lakeshore has set the standard this decade, capturing three of the last four division titles and establishing itself as the team to beat. But Blenheim is looking to flip the script, aiming to snap the long-standing grip Lakeshore and Essex have had on the final.

With everything on the line, who will it be? Does the dynasty roll on, or will a new contender break the stranglehold?

aboutus

Powerplay Windsor was born during a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass sparked a memory—being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan early in my career. That moment brought to mind the upcoming Windsor Lancers football camp and the many fall sports that would go uncovered due to cuts in legacy media sports coverage.

Recognizing this gap, and with the support of my loving wife and family, I launched Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

Founded locally and operated locally, we blend traditional sports reporting with modern digital storytelling.

From high school athletics and post secondary programs to junior hockey and grassroots clubs, we shine the spotlight on the people who make our sports community vibrant.

Our video channel brings you highlights, interviews and behind the scenes access. We are courtside, rinkside and on the field capturing moments that matter. See you soon.

"We celebrate all of the athletes within Windsor-Essex and their achievements reflected on Powerplay Sports."
