Stars win Can-Am championship

The Windsor Stars are the 2021 Can-Am League champs after beating the Tecumseh Thunder 5-0 in the final Wednesday night at Lacasse Park.

The Stars were the home team in Tecumseh because of scheduling conflicts at Mic Mac Park. Windsor was up 3-0 in the bottom of the 6th when Jeremy Orton sparked the Stars offence with a double to right. Anthony Dufour gave them so breathing room hitting a single up the middle scoring Orton and Noah Renaud to close out the scoring.

Great job Smitty. A champion at any level is still a champion. Congrats to you and your team. Good luck in Halifax.

aboutus

Powerplay Windsor was born during a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass sparked a memory—being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan early in my career. That brought me to the upcoming season that was going to be overlooked due to cuts to legacy media.

I launched Powerplay Sports as a passion project and to continue showcasing local athletes and our vibrant sports community.

Our video channel brings you highlights, interviews and behind the scenes access. We are courtside, rinkside and on the field capturing moments that matter.
