"Versatile reload," Wiseman adds speedy infielder

Doug Wiseman has built his championship teams around players from across Ontario. He has gone off the menu in the off-season. His latest catch, Ashton Fong, hails from Colwood, British Columbia. "She reached out a week after nationals with interest." said Wiseman whose team was in BC for the CCSA national championships, which they won for a second straight year.

The 5’5” middle infielder/pitcher played club ball and won a bronze at the BC Summer Games in 2022 and silver at the U17 provincials last summer before capping off the season with a bronze at the nationals.

With the potential of losing up to seven players from last year's roster Wiseman is undertaking a "versatile reload." Joining the team this fall are Ada Umerah, Kamryn Coombs, Brooke Cameron, Danna Juarez and Zahnyah Jackson. Wiseman likes the versatility of his recruits.

"I thought I was done," Wiseman said. His program is receving a lot of interest following back-to-back championships and already has a 2025 crop knocking on the door. "I don't want to overcommit because I have a couple of really good kids that are on board for 2025. I don't want to be sitting at 17 and have no one that's graduating."

It's an admirable position to be in as Wiseman looks to continue the programs' success.

aboutus

Powerplay Windsor was born during a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass sparked a memory—being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan early in my career. That moment brought to mind the upcoming Windsor Lancers football camp and the many fall sports that would go uncovered due to cuts in legacy media sports coverage.

Recognizing this gap, and with the support of my loving wife and family, I launched Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

Founded locally and operated locally, we blend traditional sports reporting with modern digital storytelling.

From high school athletics and post secondary programs to junior hockey and grassroots clubs, we shine the spotlight on the people who make our sports community vibrant.

Our video channel brings you highlights, interviews and behind the scenes access. We are courtside, rinkside and on the field capturing moments that matter. See you soon.

"We celebrate all of the athletes within Windsor-Essex and their achievements reflected on Powerplay Sports."

"Another great resource for local sports produced by a person that has been invested in local sports for decades."
