Updated: Warlocks U22 team taking quality shots in Ottawa

The Windsor Warlocks U22 women's team is used to the routine of going to tournaments in Whitby, the GTA and Kitchener. "It did get a little redundant going to the same places, playing the same teams." said defender Mackenna Brosseau who is happy the team is able to play in a different place for once. "We are booked at the same hotel, most of us, so I'm looking forward to having some down time at the hotel and getting to meet the girls and get to know them better."

The Warlocks play in a division that has one team, Wallaceburg, and they play each other eight times. "Heading up to Ottawa we're gonna play Napean, Gloucester and Akwesasne so we get to see other teams up that way." said Warlocks head coach Dave DeRush.

The tournament is being played in the Ottawa region of Gloucester and features teams in five divisions. DeRush, who also coaches with the Windsor Clippers, introduced some new offensive strategies and is looking forward to seeing how the team executes their game plan which is centered around taking quality shots. "The girls have come a long way. They put a lot of time and hard work into it. They're good"

After their Ottawa trip the Warlocks will head to Whitby in early August for provincials. "I think this year we are finally making a pretty good step towards making girls lacrosse better so looking forward to that." Brosseau said.

The Warlocks opened the tournament with a 6-2 over the Akwesasne Storm. Adalin Murphy led Windsor with a four-goal, 1 assist effort. They were shutout in a hard-fought second game against the host Gloucester Lady Griffins 2-0 Saturday afternoon. Sierra Sarty scored the lone goal as the Warlocks lost to Napean 6-1 Saturday night. Sarty scored both goals in a 4-2 Sunday morning to Gloucester in the playoff round.
