'We're certainly enjoying it': Ekblad shares Stanley Cup with fans

Aaron Ekblad is a panther through and through. "Growing up a Panther (Sun County AAA) and being a Panther now is pretty cool," said the Florida defenceman during his visit to the Atlas Tube Recreation Centre to share the Stanley Cup with family, friends and fans. "It's a fun kinda full circle moment and to see a lot of the old faces from the city has been really cool. It's been an incredible experience and hopefully we can bring a little joy to everybody's life today with this beautiful trophy."
He brought some joy prior to the start of the event by bringing the cup outside and hoisting it for the hundreds of fans lined up waiting to visit him.
The Panthers won the Stanley Cup in June after beating the Edmonton Oilers in game 7 of the final. Ekblad understands not everyone was rooting for Florida during their playoff run.
"I think a lot of them realize the importance of somebody from the city competing and being there and were probably were standing in front of their tv's rooting for me at some point or another in some series against their rival teams so to be able to give it back to them and that feeling of bringing it to the crowd is a cool experience." Ekblad told Powerplay Sports.
