Westlake posts shutout for St. Anne

Essex had their chances down a goal late in the third period but could not beat St. Anne goalie Kara Westlake as the Saints shut out the Red Raiders 1-0 in sr. girls hockey action Tuesday. Ashley Quenneville scored the lone goal of the game.
Lily Seal almost tied the game with under six minutes to go. She beat Westlake low glove side on a breakaway but barely missed the far side post
Late in the third Kylah Durand took an innocent shot from the top of the left circle on a 2-on-1. Westlake made the initial save but had to kick out her pad as Katie Sylvestre pounced on the rebound.
St. Anne moves to 2-2 and hands Essex their first loss of the season.
UP NEXT: The Saints will host Holy Names Monday in Tecumseh while Essex hosts Villanova next Tuesday.
