The Villanova Wildcats track and field team are the WECSSAA champs after dethroning Sandwich and ending their 15-year run as top dog.

"This is years in the making," Villy head coach Mike Baran told Powerplay Sports. "We've been chasing Sandwich for the past two years but wishing we could be in this position for a long time."
The jr and sr boys along with the novice girls dominated the track racking up the points needed to dethrone the Sabres.
A special moment was had when Sandwich head coach Rob Moore handed the Wildcats coaches Mike Baran and Nicole Sassine the winning plaque.
"His dynasty is something to aspire to." Baran said. "What Rob did was very special since he's a mentor to me. He's a big part of why this program is as good as it is. He supported us in many ways."
