WMFA creates outlet for players

With high school sports on the shelf this season because of the pandemic Windsor MInor Football has helped fill the void. A high school division was created earlier this fall to accomodate players forced to the sideline this year.

"I sat down with Glen (Mills) and asked him if he'd like to run the high school division and he stepped up right away," said WMFA president Paul Horoky.

Mills was more than willing to lend a helping hand, "It's good to get back on the field and at least get them to compete a bit," said Mills.

The high school division is made up of four teams and run by Mills and the Essex Ravens. A 10-game schedule began in late September with each team playing two games every Sunday. It's a 7-on7 format with a limited amount of opportunity for the quarterback to run meaning there is a lot of throwing.

"I was happy when they came up with this" said White Team quarterback Nate Rocheleau, who is a grade 8 student not looking out of place. "It's really more intense and I just like being competitive".

WMFA is getting ready to host their Day of Champions November 1st at Mic Mac Park.
