Woodall signs with Spits

Carson Woodall is the latest LaSalle Viper to ink an OHL Standard Player Agreement. "It's been a dream of mine and it's my hometown." Woodall said.

The defenceman has 10 goals and 36 points in 44 games in LaSalle including a highlight reel goal featuring "The Michigan" goal.

"It’s been amazing playing in Lasalle, I have had a lot of opportunities there.”

Vipers head coach Matt Beaudoin feels the signing is well deserved. "He's an elite defenceman at our level and has an impact on every shift that he plays."

The Belle River native, who was drafted in the 10th round of the 2022 draft, played in the GOJHL Future Stars Game this season and helped the league's U-18 team win the 39th annual MacPherson Challenge Tournament hosted by St. Andrews College.

"How does this kid go in the 10th round?" Beaudoin wondered. "He's been so good for us right from jumpstreet this year. In our prospects camp he was the best player on the ice and has just taken off since the start of the season."

Woodall is the second 16-year old signed by the Spits in the last 30 days. General manager Bill Bowler locked up forward Cole Davis in late January. Davis played two games with the Spits and had a goal and assist.

GAME POSTPONED

Wednesday night game St. Mary's has been postponed. It's the final week of the regular season and the playoff picture is still murky. The Vipers are settled into 4th in the Western Conference but could move ahead of the 3rd place Lincolns if they win their last three games (St. Mary's, Chatham, Komoka) and St Mary's loses their final two (LaSalle, Leamington).

aboutus

Powerplay Windsor was born during a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass sparked a memory—being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan early in my career. That moment brought to mind the upcoming Windsor Lancers football camp and the many fall sports that would go uncovered due to cuts in legacy media sports coverage.

Recognizing this gap, and with the support of my loving wife and family, I launched Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

Founded locally and operated locally, we blend traditional sports reporting with modern digital storytelling.

From high school athletics and post secondary programs to junior hockey and grassroots clubs, we shine the spotlight on the people who make our sports community vibrant.

Our video channel brings you highlights, interviews and behind the scenes access. We are courtside, rinkside and on the field capturing moments that matter. See you soon.

"We celebrate all of the athletes within Windsor-Essex and their achievements reflected on Powerplay Sports."

"Another great resource for local sports produced by a person that has been invested in local sports for decades."
