Michael Beale is returning to the gridiron this fall as a quarterback for the St. Clair Fratmen. The 21-year old spent the last two years playing baseball at the college and didn't want to pass up an opportunity to play at the new Sportspark and its new football team.
"Coach Morencie and a little mix of Ron Seguin in there along with coach Lachance too convinced me to go back and play football again" said Beale.
The Herman grad reunites with a few of his high school teammates which is enticing to Fratmen head coach Mike Lachance, "sometimes winning and losing is a learned behaviour and those kids have learned to expect to win".
Beale won three provincial championships at Herman before leaving for St. Francis Xavier in 2018. When he returned home in 2019 Beale says he flip flopped before deciding he missed baseball more than wanting to continue playing football.
Joining the Fratmen gives Beale a chance to play for the team his dad suited up for from 1993-1996.
Lachance likes Beale's arm strength and sneaky athletic ability as quarterback. "The QB room is loaded full and competition will be interesting to say the least.
Lachance took a moment to address the state of his team during the current pandemic and his hope for the fall.
