Fanshawe stuns St. Clair to win gold

The OCAA championship was a tale of two halves with St. Clair owning the first and Fanshawe taking over the second en route to a 93-80 win. The Saints shot 48-percent and led by 10 at the half. Logan Kucera scored 22 of her 26 points in the first half going 3-4 from the three point line.
"I think we tried to rely on those shots in the first half but it couldn't carry over in the second half" said Kucera.
The Falcons trailed 52-42 at the half but quickly turned things around in the third quarter outscoring the Saints 26-6. Mikhaila Wright scored 21 of her game-high 30 points in the second half to lead Fanshawe.
"We knew what to expect from them in the third" said Wright who was named tournament MVP. "They're a crazy talented young team. We knew we had to defend better".
"Third quarter Fanshawe really turned the tables on us. You gotta give credit to the opponent" said Saints' head coach Andy Kiss
Chuot Angou also scored 30 points for Fanshawe who captured their second straight OCAA title. They are heading to Vancouver Island for the national championship tournament starting March 18th.
The Falcons lost their opening game at nationals a year ago and Angou feels they're ready for their second chance.
"We didn't really play our game (last year). We're going to work our butts off at nationals".
