Knights hand Nobles season opening loss

Belle River got off to a good start in their season opener against Holy Names jumping out to an 8-0 first quarter lead. The Knights slowly wrangled the momentum away leaning on the strength of their offensive and defensive line. "It seemed like we were taking their will away and that's what we tried to do." said first year head coach Dan Hogan. "Take their will away and run the ball."

Holy Names gave the ball to grade 11 running back Noah Hand who was effective gaining yards and first downs.

"Fun to watch." Hogan said: "He's worked hard in the off-season. Lifted quite a bit and his future looks bright. I'm excited to see what he does going forward.

Hand scored with 8:50 to go in the third to give the Knights a 12-8 lead on a six-yard scamper. He then barreled his way into the endzone from three yards out late in the third as Holy Names went on to win 20-8.

"Anytime you win a football game it's great. The nice thing is we got some film. Tomorrow we get up and start getting better." Hogan said following his first victory at the helm.

Holy Names hosts Herman (who lost to Sandwich 14-7) Thursday September 28th at 5:30.
