Knights heading to OFSAA

The Holy Names sr. boys basketball team had to fight for their right to qualify for OFSAA with last year's silver medalists in town for the SWOSSA championship. This game lived up to the hype as both teams exchanged blows throughout the first half. The Knights led 30-27 heading into the break.

"They're a great team," said Holy Names head coach Ryan Steer. "They're experienced. Hey, our games came out ready to play back and forth."

Austin Brown helped the home team break away and open an 11-point lead in the third quarter dropping three triples.

The Lancers fought back cutting the deficit to four points a couple of times in the 4th quarter led by Jaxen Baker who had seven points in the final frame. Down by 4 with eleven seconds left Baker's shot hit the back of the iron as Cole Loenenberg pulled down the rebound for Holy Names and was fouled. He hit a free throw to salt away the game as the Knights won 60-54. They advance to SWOSSSA in Stoney Creek March 4th.

"We got a young team. Mostly grade 11's. They stepped up in the moments," said Steer. "I'm really proud of them."
