Lancers remain undefeated

The Windsor Lancers football team is off to its best start since 2014 following Saturday's convincing 37-0 win over Waterloo.

Quarterback Danny Skelton went 23-33 for 391 yards and a touchdown leading the Lancers to their third straight win and best start in nine seasons. Windsor went 4-0 in 2014 but actually lost their first game that year. Queen's won 39-30 but were forced to forfeit the win because of an ineligible player. The Lancers went 3-0 to open the season in 2006 enroute to a 6-2 regular season record.

"Winning all three phases of the game was important." said head coach J-P Circelli. The defence was dominant in getting the shutout and we were all over their quarterback with six sacks."

The Lancers racked up 626 yards on offence including 236 on the ground led by Joey Zorn who had nine carries for 92 yards and a touchdown. Special teams pulled off a fake punt and scored on a 52-yard punt return by Javonni Cunningham.

"After the game I told the team that they should be very proud of what they have accomplished today (vs Waterloo). To overcome a number of injuries, go on the road and get a shutout victory is a big deal." Circelli said. "That being said, we have a tough challenge this week going up to Ottawa to take on a great football program."

Lancers will take on the Gee Gee's looking to continue extend their win streak and avenge a regular season and playoff loss to Ottawa last season. Game time is 4pm.
