Leamington falls to 1-1 in round robin play

After losing the tournament opener the Hamilton Kilty B's rebounded with a 5-4 victory in Leamington Sunday night. "We weren't ourselves in game one of this round robin against Stratford and we needed to get back to that." said Hamilton head coach Ken Peroff. "We were able to do that today."

Tyler Hopkins got things going for the visitors early scoring his third of the playoffs at 1:49 of the first. Connor MacPherson responded exactly three minutes later with his 14th. Matthew Duarte and Trevor Larue exchanged goals in the second.

With the game tied three late in the third Nathan Omeri did a lap around the Flyers zone before unloading a wrist shot from near the top of the right circle that beat goalie Bryce Walcarius off the post for a 4-3 lead at 15:26. Dawson McKinney scored with Walcarius on the bench for an insurance goal that came in handy.

With Carson Lloyd in the penalty box and Walcarius back on the bench the Flyers capitalized on a 6-on-4 advantage on a goal by Owen Holmes. Leamington couldn't find the equalizer and joined Hamilton and Stratford at 1-1 at the midway point of the tournament.
