Lewis on track with Rails and Thunder

Will Lewis knows what he wants to accomplish. "I want to be a collegiate baseball player."

In order to put himself on the right track to achieving that goal the 18-year old has been crossing the border to play for a tournament team called the Lincoln Park Rails. "We play in six tournaments in the Michigan and Ohio area." said Lewis who feels his development has taken a big step forward since joining the Rails. "100%. My body feels great. It's really moving well. My off-speed pitches have developed a ton."

The Rails have won two out of the five tournaments they've entered this season including the recent No Doubt Showcase at Jimmy Johns Field in Utica, Michigan. "It was a super cool field. It was a huge ballpark. Somewhere I really enjoyed playing." Lewis said of the United Shores Professional Baseball League stadium.

After helping the Villanova Wildcats win OFSSA silver this spring Lewis has been splitting his time with the Rails and with the Tecumseh Thunder U18's. "They done so much for me the past few weeks being able to come out and practice with some of them." said Lewis who is playing in a tournament with the team this weekend in Michigan. "Coach (Dave) Cooper has been great."

Now a recent high school graduate, Lewis is taking what he calls a "gap year" to improve his game. "Doing a lot of throwing. Just trying to throw a little bit harder going into next year where hopefully I can find a school for myself."

His last weekend with the Rails is July 22nd. He'll join the Thunder for the Ontario Elimination tournament the first week of August. "Lots of innings up for grabs and hopefully a lot of championships to win."
