Lidster hits career-high field goal in comeback win

It rained hard Saturday afternoon as the Windsor Lancers faced a slippery slope to start their game on the road at Carleton. Once the storm passed the Lancers found themselves down 15-0 at the half. "As bad as we performed in the first half, we were a completely different team in the second half," noted Lancers head coach J-P Circelli. "It was great to see our team rally around each other and execute the game plan to change momentum."
The tide began to shift in the second half when Windsor made the most of their first play of the day in the red zone with over six minutes to play. "Our special teams performed great all day, our defense tightened up and our offense finally found a spark late in the 3rd quarter." Circelli said.
Chris John helped ignite the spark finding a seem from 19-yards out and bringing the ball to the six-yard line. A pass interference call brought Windsor to the Ravens' one. Quarterback Corson Roy capped the series with the keeper into the endzone on the next play.
John wasn't done as he scored from two yards out with 4:03 left in the game. Colby Ginn caught a two-point conversion to tie it. Then, with 10 seconds left, John ran the ball 22-yards to set up a dramatic finish.
From 55 yards out, Lidster nailed the game-winning field goal, a career high, as time ran out giving the Lancers an 18-15 win. "Credit to Chris John for helping set up the dramatic final kick and for Brady Lidster being the hero at the end." said Circelli's whose team is 2-0 and head into their bye week.
"There’s several areas we need to focus on during the bye week and the first is ensuring we can get healthy." Circelli told Powerplay Sports. "We have been missing some key players over the past couple weeks and hope the time off can allow these players to heal. We also need to work on our communication and timing within our offensive and defensive systems, so the week off will allow us to do that."
Windsor is at York September 14th before returning home to face Ottawa on the 21st at 4pm.
