Morneau heading to NCAA

Noah Morneau is heading to Bowling Green after committing to the NCAA D1 program.

"I feel really good about it," said the 20-year old. "I think it's a really cool opportunity for major junior guys like myself. It opens up some other pathways and gives some players extra time for development to continue to chase goals."

Tecumseh native Greg Day played four years at Bowling Green from 1998 to 2002 before starting a pro career that led him to Europe.

Morneau has come a long way since being chosen in the 15th and final round of the OHL draft in 2020. He displayed an unrelenting work ethic in his one year with the LaSalle Vipers before joining the Spits in 2022.

"He's a natural born leader and I'm so happy to see that recognized at the level it has been." said former Vipers head coach Matt Beaudoin who feels Morneau is the best storyline on a team full of great stories. "He'll get a chance to continue his development and I know he'll excel at that level like he has every time he goes up a level."

Morneau is having a point a game season with 8 goals and 16 assists in 24 games. He looks forward to the experience of playing a bigger and stronger game at the NCAA level.

"It'll be a difference experience, a different style of play but I'm excited for it."

Windsor is first in the West Division and second behind London for the top spot in the conference and league.

The Spits face Saginaw Wednesday night at the WFCU Centre.
