In the 1A championship, top-seeded Lajeunesse proved too strong for Ste. Cecile, sweeping the match 3–0 with set scores of 25–13, 25–12, and 25–8. The win caps off a dominant playoff run for the Royals, who showcased their depth and consistency from start to finish.

2A Final: Belle River Rolls Past L’Essor

The Belle River Nobles lived up to their No. 1 ranking in the 2A division, earning a convincing 3–0 victory over L’Essor. The set scores of 25–14, 25–13, and 25–12 highlighted Belle River’s strength at the net and showcased the talented Mae MacPharland who was strong throughout the match.

3A Final: Holy Names Outlasts St. Anne in Four Sets

The 3A final delivered the night’s most intense matchup as Holy Names battled back from an opening-set loss to defeat St. Anne 3–1 (22–25, 25–19, 25–20, 26–24).

After falling behind early, the Knights responded with three straight sets but had to survive a late surge from the Saints, who erased a 10-point deficit in the fourth set to tie it at 22. Holy Names held their composure to close out the set 26–24 and avoid a fifth and deciding frame.

The victory was the 4th straight title for Holy Names, who advances to SWOSSA and will also host the upcoming OFSAA Championships in Windsor. The Saints, meanwhile, keep their hopes alive for an OFSAA berth through a potential challenge match—if Holy Names can defeat Ursuline College (Chatham) at SWOSSA next week.

More to come.

aboutus

Powerplay Windsor was born during a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass sparked a memory—being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan early in my career. That moment brought to mind the upcoming Windsor Lancers football camp and the many fall sports that would go uncovered due to cuts in legacy media sports coverage.

Recognizing this gap, and with the support of my loving wife and family, I launched Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

Founded locally and operated locally, we blend traditional sports reporting with modern digital storytelling.

From high school athletics and post secondary programs to junior hockey and grassroots clubs, we shine the spotlight on the people who make our sports community vibrant.

Our video channel brings you highlights, interviews and behind the scenes access. We are courtside, rinkside and on the field capturing moments that matter. See you soon.

"We celebrate all of the athletes within Windsor-Essex and their achievements reflected on Powerplay Sports."

John Fairley, St. Clair College

"Another great resource for local sports produced by a person that has been invested in local sports for decades."
