Heartbreak city: Saints and Lancers fall

It was a tough Friday night for both the St. Clair men's basketball team and the Windsor Lancers men's volleyball team.

However, the weekend is far from over, and for one team, the biggest stage is still yet to come.

St. Clair Men’s Basketball: A Two-Point Heartbreaker

The SportsPlex was rocking last night, but the Saints fell just short in an 82-80 nail-biter against Mohawk. Despite a massive push in the final minutes, the Saints fell short against the Moutaineerr, who will face Humber in the OCAA final at 5pm.

The Good News: The Saints don’t have time to dwell on the loss. St. Clair is back on the court today at 2:30 PM at the SportsPlex to battle for the OCAA Bronze Medal against Loyalist, who lost big to the Hawks Friday night. Fans will be in the stands to help cheer the team and make sure they finish the season with a medal.

Windsor Lancers Volleyball: History Repeats

For the second straight year, the Lancers Men’s Volleyball team saw their OUA title hopes ended by Queen’s at the TLC. The result stings for a veteran squad that was seeking redemption. They have been dominant all season and wanted to win the provincial title at home, but the narrative doesn’t end here.

The Silver Lining: While the OUA gold was presented to the Gaels, the quest for a National Championship is just beginning. The University is hosting the U SPORTS Men’s Volleyball Championship next weekend at the Toldo Lancer Centre and the road to the national title still runs through Windsor. aboutus

Powerplay Windsor was born during a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass sparked a memory—being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan early in my career. That moment brought to mind the upcoming Windsor Lancers football camp and the many fall sports that would go uncovered due to cuts in legacy media sports coverage.

Recognizing this gap, and with the support of my loving wife and family, I launched Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

Founded locally and operated locally, we blend traditional sports reporting with modern digital storytelling.

From high school athletics and post secondary programs to junior hockey and grassroots clubs, we shine the spotlight on the people who make our sports community vibrant.

Our video channel brings you highlights, interviews and behind the scenes access. We are courtside, rinkside and on the field capturing moments that matter. See you soon.

"We celebrate all of the athletes within Windsor-Essex and their achievements reflected on Powerplay Sports."

"Another great resource for local sports produced by a person that has been invested in local sports for decades."
