Lecot breaks club record

When Spencer Lecot scored his 14th goal of the season Wednesday night in London it was the game winner as LaSalle beat the Nationals 6-5. The goal also broke the club record for career goals by a defenceman during the regular season. Lecot now has 30.

"I'm so thankful to the LaSalle Vipers for giving me a chance." said the Harrow native who has 14 goals and 21 assists this season. "I love playing with all these guys and all the guys that I've played with in the past they've all helped me too get to this point."

David Sharpe set the standard during his three years in LaSalle. "Playing with Sharpie he was just such an elite defenceman putting up crazy numbers." said head coach Matt Beaudoin who won a Sutherland Cup with Sharpe in 2010. "They produce points a little bit differently. Sharpie was more 'I'm gonna blast the puck by you' and Spence can do it a couple of different ways. He can dangle and he can snipe. Unbelivable accomplishment."

Lecot found out about his feat the day after his team's latest victory, which helped them keep pace with the top half of the conference. LaSalle is in 4th place with 60 poins. They are three points out of first place in the GOJHL's Western Conference. St. Mary's is on top with 63 points followed by Leamington and London.

"I think all the guys know what we're capable of." said Lecot. "I hope I can make a difference in playoffs and take this team pretty deep."

Lecot had a chance to play a couple of games with the Windsor Lancers earlier this season and scored a goal. He is hoping to wear the blue and gold next season.
