Pivotal stretch looms following Saints sweep

The St. Clair men's basketball is 8-0 following Saturday's win over Niagara. The Saints swept the weekend including Friday night's 96-89 win over Mohawk. “The weekend went well. We were happy with how we played.” said co-head coach Brendon Seguin.

St. Clair took a five-point lead into the locker room at half but found themselves down eleven after Mohawk shot 63% from the field in the third. Following a time out the Saints went on an 18-3 run and never looked back. Kyle Brown-Fazekas led St. Clair with 20 points.

"Mohawk really challenged us. They were well prepped and coached. Our guys handled adversity well and found a way to win.” Seguin told Powerplay Sports.

St. Clair followed that up with a convincing 105-71 win over Niagara Saturday afternoon at the Sportsplex. “Proud of the team’s effort on Saturday against Niagara. It’s a challenge to bounce back quickly after a hard fought game the night before, but our group was prepped and executed on both ends of the court." Seguin said.

St. Clair now enters a pivotal stretch in the schedule before the holiday break. The Saints are at Humber and Sheridan next weekend. Seguin says the team is excited to the challenge.

"We are treating the games like all of the other games we play. We will prep for each game and come up with a game plan and hopefully execute it.” he said. “Humber and Sheridan are both very good and well coached teams. It will take a full team effort to win both games. We’re excited to head to Toronto.”

Both the Hawks and Bruins will visit Windsor after the break in ealry January for a rematch.
