Reese Grondin commits to Saints softball

There were offers to go to school in the U.S. and the OUA but in the end Reese Grondin decided to stay home and attend St. Clair College this fall. "St. Clair just had everything I was looking for really." said the Villanova student who will be taking the Honours Bachelor of Business Administration program.

It doesn't hurt that the school also has a winning softball program. "They have a really great group of girls." The Saints are coming off of a banner year that saw the program win the OCAA championship and the Canadian Collegiate Softball Association national title over Western, one of the school's Grondin was accepted to.

The Saints are losing three players from last year team but Saints head coach Doug Wiseman likes what Grondin, who has suited up for Team Ontario, brings to the team. "Definitely going to help us improve defensively right away." Wiseman said. “With Reese in the mix it will allow us to utilize and play with more versatility."

Grondin is a fan of the team and made it a point to watch the Saints last season, especially when St. Clair hosted the national champions. "I had just gotten my wisdom teeth pulled that weekend and I was determined to get there and watch a game."

Grondin plays third and can add depth to first base while bringing a steady bat to the lineup according to Wiseman. "She's gonna have a great opportunity to contribute to the team right away. "We're improving with the players we're adding" said Wiseman who eluded to more blue chip player announcements coming soon.
