Saints could win their division

The St. Clair women's soccer team beat Fanshawe 6-1 Wednesday night for their third straight win. Alexa Mognon led the way with a goal and three assists. "We won but it wasn't pretty." said head coach Steve Vagnini. "The team is young so lots of mental mistakes but being young also makes them relentless. Very pleased with these girls."

Mohawk lost 2-1 to Conestoga allowing the Saints to jump into second place with a 6-1-2 record. St. Clair is one point behind Humber for top spot in the OCAA West Division. Humber's final game is Saturday night vs the Condors. The Saints close out the regular season at home Friday vs 0-9 Lambton at 4pm. If St. Clair wins and Conestoga can pull off a tie then the Saints would win the division.

However the cards play out, Friday is the most important game. "A win secures second place and home playoff games until the final four." said Vagnin who stayed up late going over film with his coaching staff. They have a young talented roster splattered with rookies and are focused on putting the players in a position to seize their opportunity.
