Swimmers getting ready for nationals
Success came in different forms for members of the Windsor Aquatic Club at the provincial championships.
Tabi Main didn't have the showing she wanted to at provincials as she battled strep throat. "I want to redeem myself." said Main who didn't medal but set a season personal best in the 200 breaststroke. "I don't think I put down my best races at provincials because I was sick. I wasn on anti-biotics at the meet." She looks forward to having a strong showing at nationals August 1st in Toronto.
Taya Hutchison won gold in the 50m freestyle and silver in the 200m freestyle. "Provincials showed what I needed to fix in my races." said the 15-year old who has a couple of weeks to fine tune before moving up an age level at nationals. "I'm on the lower end age-wise so just trying to place as high as I can and trying to put down some good times from my goals at the beginning of the year that I haven't reached yet."
After breaking a 28-year old OFSAA record this spring Alexandar Lackovic is hoping to make a splash at nationals. The 18-year old has been ramping up for the fall season when he'll make his debut in the pool with the UBC Thunderbirds, the 5-time defending national university champs. "I'm working pretty hard now until nationals so I can swim some good times there." He's hoping swimming at a higher level this fall will help put him in a good position for the Olympics trials next year.

Mia Arlotti captured the bronze in the 200 freestyle. Quinn Matteis won silver in the 800 freestyle while the girls relay (4 X 50 free with Jayne Harcarufka, Taya Hutchison, Mia Arlotti, and Abby Duvall) took silver.
