Tulloch scores three TD’s in Cardinal Carter win over Riverside

Cardinal Carter Cougars 42, Riverside Stingers 14

Cardinal Carter jumped out early and never let up, building a 35-7 halftime lead before closing it out 42-14.

• Christiano Antunes opened the scoring with a 10-yard rushing TD in the first quarter, and went a perfect 6-for-6 on extra points

• Timar Tulloch had a monster night: two rushing touchdowns of 50-plus yards, a 48-yard receiving TD, and a punt return score

• Noah Cafferena added a 40-yard receiving TD from Nate Nehmetellah, who threw two passing touchdowns on the night

Cougars head coach Chris Church: "We had no two-way players with the exception of a few personnel changes. So it truly was a full team effort. We had a few mistakes and penalties that we need to clean up. But we will get back to work and get better."

Stingers head coach Andrew Sulyok: Riverside is a young squad, with roughly 90% of the roster, it was their first-ever football game. Sulyok pointed to running back Ethan Parent-Coleman's breakout performance and praised grade 10 quarterback Max Lockwood for making solid reads in his debut. He also credited the offensive line for opening holes and sustaining drives, and the defense for coming up with key third-down stops. "Instead of looking at it as a loss, it was a learning experience," Sulyok said, “We saw a lot of teachable moments out there that we can only get better from.”

Sulyok is looking forward to getting back to the practice field to prepare for the next game.
