Vipers lose home opener vs Lincolns

The St. Marys Lincolns scored two late goals in the second period to break a deadlock against the LaSalle Vipers. The visitors went on to win 4-2.

“It’s early in the season, trying to learn how to win.” Said Lincolns assistant coach Mike Siddall. “The guys played real well and we didn’t give them much opportunity in the third period and we were able to close out the game.

St. Mary’s outshot the Vipers 16-4 in the third. “I don’t think we ran outta of gas,” LaSalle head coach Anthony Iaquinta told Powerplay Sports. “Took too many shortcuts.throughout the night. If we want to be serious about winning we got to make some changes, play a bit tougher brand of hockey and understand it comes from the D-zone first.”

The Lincolns improve to 2-0 while the Vipers fall to 1-1. Next up for LaSalle: at London September 23rd.
