Umerah belts four home runs as Saints win OCAA silver

It was a tournament to remember for 2nd year first baseman Ada Umerah who crushed four homeruns during the OCAA provincial championships. She saved her best for Durham in the bronze medal game.
Umerah got the Saints rolling with a 3-run shot to dead centre in the first inning and added a line drive over the left field fence in the 5th inning to lead St. Clair to a 5-1 victory. The win gave the Lords the bronze and the Saints an opportunity to play for gold.
St. Clair squared off against Humber and belted the Hawks 12-1 but feel short in the deciding game of the double knock out tournament losing 9-2.
The Saints opened the season losing big to Durham at home 15-4 and 11-2 before going on a nine-game win streak. First year head coach Dwayne Dawson guided his team to a 2nd place finish behind the league-leading Lords.
"I was excited to see our team grow on and off the field." Dawson told Powerplay Sports. "We ended one game short of the goal but I am very proud of our team for the success we had all season. We played hard until the last out was made. We have something to strive for next season."
Thanks to their second place finish the Saints have qualified for the Canadian Collegiate Softball Association's championship tournament next fall.
